Bogotá, June 6 (EFE). – Gathered in the Kyiv Virtuosi Orchestra and under the direction of cellist Dmitriy Yablonsky, some of Ukraine’s most prominent soloists will perform on Tuesday at Bogotá’s Teatro Julio Mayor Mario Santo Domingo a repertoire of classical, baroque and contemporary pieces to promote their country’s culture.

After the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the members of this orchestra moved from Eastern Europe to the Italian city of Chieti to conduct an artistic residency that served as a starting point for the tour that will take them this year to Scenarios. in Israel, Brazil and Colombia, among other countries.

With this concert, the Teatro Mayor seeks to “promote dialogue between the most prominent cultures of Colombia and the world”, while reaffirming its “strong” support for Ukrainian culture.

Among the works in the program, Johann Christian Bach’s “Concerto in C minor”—one of Johann Sebastian Bach’s sons—stands out, a Baroque-style piece suspected of being composed by Henri Casadesus, a French violinist from the early 20th century.

Pieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Felix Mendelssohn will be performed at the Bogotá Theater with “Adagio y fuga en C minor” by the Austrian singer and “Divertimento in B flat major” by the German composer.

In contrast to the more classical notes in the concert, the repertoire includes works by active composers such as the Ukrainian Alexey Schor or the Israeli Baruch Berliner with his “Jacob’s Dream” cello concert.

The meaning of the concert is in line with the career of Yablonsky, a musician who was on one occasion nominated for Grammy Awards, and who has worked to popularize the works of Eastern European composers such as Krzysztof Penderecki, Valentin Silvestrov and Myroslav Skoryk, according to the stage. big.
