They demand Iran to end the US embargo on Cuba

TEHRAN, Nov. 6 (PRINSA LATINA) The Group of Friends of Defenders of the United Nations Charter in Iran has called on the United States government to put an immediate and unconditional end to the embargo against Cuba, diplomatic sources said today.

According to a report issued by the island’s embassy in Tehran, the final declaration of the meeting held in this capital, the member states expressed their unwavering solidarity with the people and authorities of that Caribbean nation.

The final text asserts that the Caribbean nation has heroically borne the negative impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by Washington for more than 60 years, which represents a significant obstacle to its full economic and social development.

The declaration signed by the 19 countries that make up the initiative salutes the resolution approved by the United Nations General Assembly on 3 November, by 185 votes, which demands, for the thirtieth time in a row, the need to put an end to this policy of genocide unilaterally imposed by the White House against Havana.

The meeting was held in Tehran the day before, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, deputy ministers, ambassadors, special representatives and advisors of the invited countries.

The group was formed in 2021 with the aim of preserving, updating and defending the credibility of the United Nations Charter.

The Cuban delegation to the event was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Elio Rodriguez. It also included Ambassador Alberto Gonzalez and State Department official Pablo Berti.
