They have confirmed at least 176 cases of coronavirus linked to Bad Bunny concerts

San Juan, Dec. 15 (EFE). Puerto Rico’s Ministry of Health confirmed this Wednesday that there are at least 176 cases of COVID-19 suspected to be linked to Bad Bunny’s concerts last Friday and Saturday. In the city of San Juan.

The island’s chief epidemiologist, Melissa Marzan Rodriguez, said they are investigating whether people were actually infected when they attended concerts or whether they were infected during the show.

The expert also predicted the emergence of new positive cases linked to the concerts, which gathered about 80,000 people at Hiram Bethorne Stadium in San Juan.

Marzan Rodriguez said that although the level of transmission remains moderate on the island, there has been an increase from 2% to 3.5%.

The epidemiologist called for those attending Bad Bunny parties or any other mass event to get tested for the virus and, if positive, to isolate themselves to stop the chains of infection.

Bad Bunny gave its first concerts this weekend since the pandemic began, and Hiram Bethorne Stadium has turned into a nightclub with dozens of guest artists, including J Balvin, Cech and Romeo Santos.

The organization of the event required the attendees to show their vaccination card to enter the stadium and protect themselves with masks.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 223,000 cases and 3,277 deaths from COVID-19 have been recorded in Puerto Rico, the US territory with the highest vaccination rate. EFE
