They managed to establish a health center for the care of monkeypox – Al-Diario

The Cochabamba Autonomous Municipal Government has established an area in the Tecte Norte Health Center to care for and isolate people with possible cases of monkeypox.

The Minister of Health, Aníbal Cruz, explained that it is people who have been in contact with infected people, through fluids, or who eat contaminated meat or share clothing with someone who already has the disease, who will contract monkeypox.

He explained that monkeypox is not the same as COVID-19, which will be transmitted in the community stage, “in fact, there are five cases in Santa Cruz, of which two are by local transmission.”

He stressed that people who are susceptible to monkeypox infection are: Those who have an epidemic history, such as coming from an endemic place or have been in contact with sick people.

In the event of the presence of a suspicious person in coordination with the health department (headquarters), this person will be isolated and followed up with whoever he was in contact with, then examination and diagnosis will be carried out.

Cruz reiterated that he is on epidemic alert; However, in the municipality there is an isolation place that does not need monitoring equipment or intensive care units, as it is only necessary to control vital signs, avoid complications (over infection) and make a diagnosis at the National Center for Tropical Diseases (Senetrop), of Santa Cruz County.

All health workers are trained to perform the suspected diagnosis, the corresponding alarm, and thus the laboratory diagnosis. (Cochabamba, agencies)
