Hispano Suiza made a comeback in 2019 with the launch of a 100% electric supercar called Carmen He later boosted his comeback with exclusives too Carmen BologneTwo cars whose joint production was estimated at 24 units.

The manufacturer’s plans go beyond these two models and is already working on releasing a new one in 2024, the year when the brand’s 120th anniversary will be celebrated. To do this, they relied on the students of the European Institute of Design, who suggested how they envision the future of the company. And they did this by taking inspiration from Hispano Suiza known as Alfonso XIII. In the photo gallery you have various proposals created.

Hispano Suiza Alfonso XIII was a T45, designed by Marc Birkigt, one of the company’s founders (the other end being Damián Mateu) and put up for sale between 1911 and 1914. He is literally known as Alfonso XIII because he was commissioned by the king himself, who explicitly asked to make a sports car for him.

    Exciting collaboration

Francesc Arenas, Design Director of Hispano Suiza, was involved in the process of creating the IED students. Arenas himself declared that “For us, it is a matter of pride to be collaborating with IED in Turin and to be able to offer its students the tools to unleash their imaginations. Innovation and flair for design are key in the history, present and future of Hispano Suiza.” For me and the team Hispano Suiza, being able to advise, act and inspire these new talents has been a very motivating and exciting experience.“.

For his part, Michel Albera, Coordinator of the IED Transport Design Triennial Course in Turin, explained: “The project implementation phases represent, for students, a moment of freedom to express their creativity and the skills acquired during the technique, useful and theoretical classes. Collaboration with Hispano Suiza allowed the students to face the demands of the mark. Historic branding, excellence in the automotive sector and the needs of the international market, highlighting their personality and passion.”
