The third edition of the UEFA Nations League is underway, with three matches and three more matches to be played before the final stage in June 2023.

England, France and England are looking for their first victories

England, who sought a win against Italy in the final round, must avenge their loss to Hungary in their opening match in Budapest if they are to claim their first win in the highly competitive Group A3. Head coach Gareth Southgate has declared that with England “you are going to be judged and you have to win every game”, but he is not the only coach finding it difficult to win. Holders France have yet to win in Group A1 and will try to do so on Monday against Croatia, while England’s rivals Germany have drawn in Group A3 in all their three matches so far.

Sunday – day tour of Spain

Spain topped Group B in the league thanks to a 2-0 victory over the Czech Republic, a result that also kept them unbeaten in the competition. Top scorers Carlos Soler and Sarabia and Cheb Jaffe who stunned Malaga starred with flashes of quality. This result, added to Portugal’s defeat in Switzerland, left Luis Enrique’s men as leaders of their group.

The Swiss, who have accumulated three defeats, fought the match in this match and did not take long to open the box with a goal scored by Seferovic at the start that ended in a duel decision. Portugal tried unsuccessfully and squandered Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence in front of goal, thus incurring their first defeat in the competition. In other notable matches, Haaland scored twice in Norway’s win over Sweden and now has 20 goals in 21 international matches for his country.

The Netherlands is close to the final stage

The fact that no team reached the halfway point in the UEFA Nations League with a full score is a testament to just how competitive the competition can be. But the Netherlands came close, with Memphis Depay hitting the post with a penalty in a 2-2 draw with Poland. “Everything we learned today, we’ll move on to the next game,” midfielder Denzel Dumfries told UEFA.com, shrugging his shoulders.

Prior to Sunday, Portugal and Orange were the two teams with the most points in the first league (seven points), but with Portugal losing to Switzerland, only the Dutch can reach double figures when they face Wales in the fourth round.

Serdar Dorson Line

With Turkey hosting Lithuania goalless, Serdar Dorsun has scored four goals in Group C1, not even Haaland’s 20 goals in 21 games for Norway can (almost) match seven of the seven since his debut (at age 29) in October 2021, he said: “Wearing this is the dream of every Turkish footballer.” Dorsun put in a perfect performance to celebrate Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal to score against the Faroe Islands in the first round. What awaits us in the future

• The UEFA Nations League will have its own summer break in July and August, before The first round between Scotland and Ukraine on Wednesday, September 21, has been postponed. On Thursday, September 22, the match between Kazakhstan and Belarus will start the fifth daybeing a party Italy at home against England the most important.

• Round 6 will take place between Sunday 25 and Tuesday 27 September, and from then on, relegation and promotion in each league will be largely determined. In addition, the top teams from each of the four first division groups will be confirmed in the final stage, which will take place in June 2023.
