Uruguay’s U-20 national team beat Uzbekistan 2-0 at the Centenario Stadium

Uruguay’s U-20 national football team beat Uzbekistan 2-0 at the Centenario in their last warm-up match before the dispute over the FIFA Youth World Cup in Argentina.

La Celeste entered the field with Randall Rodriguez, Matteo Ponte, Sebastian Boselli, Facundo Gonzalez, Alan Maturo, Fabricio Diaz, Damian Garcia, Matias Abaldo, Franco Gonzalez, Luciano Rodriguez and Andres Ferrari.

The game started with Uruguay taking the lead, planting themselves in the opposite half and trying to attack with a forward and direct play, but a lack of clarity and partnerships from midfield onwards conspired that attackers could be spared.

Two mid-distance attempts were the most dangerous at the start, but little by little the Uzbek team began to steal the lead from the one led by Marcelo Brugli, and on a bad start by Randall Rodriguez they almost put themselves ahead, if not it could be due to a takedown Divine by Facundo González.

In the assist, Uruguay improved and adjusted in defense and with two tries by De Ritis they were close to taking the lead. The goal that broke the tie came from a penalty kick, when Anderson Duarte was brought down in the area and the offence was punished by the referee. Captain Fabricio Diaz executed the match with precision and made it 1-0.

Since then, with the arrival of Santiago Homchenko, La Celeste have been more flexible in their game and have found greater clarity from the attacking midfield.

At the conclusion of the match, Anderson Duarte conceded from behind and with a big swing put the ball against the post to make the final score 2-0.

La Celeste won their last show before the World Cup (in the previous edition, they beat Honduras 1-0), said goodbye to their people and added photography before the big event to be held in Argentina.

Uruguay will play its first match in Group E on Monday 22nd May in La Plata against Iraq. There they will also face England three days later, while on Sunday the 28th they will face Tunisia in Mendoza.

On the other hand, Uzbekistan will make its debut on May 20 against Argentina in the opening match of the World Cup Group A in the category. Its first stage will be closed to New Zealand (23rd) and Guatemala (26th).
