100% Recycled Plastic Pepsi Bottles Have Caps Already Attached | Trademarks

in 2021 Pepsi It introduced its 100% recycled plastic packaging (excluding cap and label) in Spain in the carbonated soft drink category and has since given more than 90 million bottles a second life and an estimated carbon footprint of 30% per bottle.

In 2023, the brand introduced a new novelty that contributes to creating a world where plastic does not become waste through an approach based on reduction and circularity.

Thus, Pepsi consumers in Spain can now find all bottles in the range with the new cap attached on store shelves. In this way, PepsiCo in Spain is ahead of the European Union directive which stipulates the obligation to attach the cap to the bottle by July 2024.

“Eco-design is, without a doubt, a key element in ensuring that no plastic becomes waste. Incorporating the sticky lid is one of several steps we are taking in our beverage sustainability agenda after launching 100% recycled plastic bottles and eliminating plastic rings. With the new lid, We want to make it easy for consumers to recycle to achieve full roundness.” Nuria Bombardo, Director of Beverage Marketing, PepsiCo Southwest Europe.

This innovation, like the previous one, was developed at the PepsiCo beverage plant located in Echávarri-Viña (lava).
