The Sandinista government keeps fuel prices stable in Nicaragua, despite the global crisis

The government of Nicaragua for several weeks in a row assumes a one hundred percent increase in fuel in the country, despite the increase in prices on the international market.

According to a joint statement from the Central American country’s Energy Institute and Ministry of Energy and Minerals, the measure supports the Nicaraguan family and the country’s economic activities such as production and mass transportation.

The text details that prices for diesel, super and regular gasoline for the following week should increase by 28.54 Córdoba (0.79 cent); 9.61 (0.26 US cents) and 6.32 córdoba (0.17 US cents) per gallon respectively, however, the Sandinista government has decided not to increase this value and assumes the total stated increase.

According to the report, the State of Nicaragua confirmed that liquefied petroleum gas will not have any change in its price for offers of 10, 25 and 100 pounds.

Similarly, the summary refers to the permanent monitoring of crude oil prices around the world by the government of President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo.

According to official data, the price of a barrel of crude oil from the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in the past twelve months increased by 68.11 percent. The price of a barrel this Thursday was about $108.81.
