A dream job in a remote part of New Zealand attracts applicants from all over the world

A dream job in remote New Zealand brings applicants from as far away as Colombia and Sweden.

The New Zealand Department of Defense received only three applicants when it opened applications last month, but has since decided to expand the search and is inundated with applicants.

Be a biodiversity watcher in the remote village of Haast, and enjoy trekking, helicopter rides and navigating one of the world’s most beautiful landscapes.

The Chosen One’s main mission is to assist in the conservation of rare species on the west coast of New Zealand’s South Island.

These include caring for kiwi, monitoring colonies of flightless birds, penguins or reptiles native to New Zealand.

The department has now received over 1,400 applications from applicants from as far away as Finland, Romania, Paraguay and South Africa.

COO Wayne Costello says the response has been overwhelming.

“I have an Instagram account, my number is on WhatsApp, so he’s had some requests from Colombia, Romania and Sweden.
