Alejandro Fernandez donates $100,000 to help immigrants

Mexican singer Alejandro Fernandez has donated $100,000 from the proceeds of his US concert tour to a campaign that fights against the separation of immigrant families in the United States.

The campaign reported Tuesday that the so-called Foley gave a check of that amount to families who belong together during a concert in Los Angeles on Saturday.

“We are honored to be beneficiaries and to collaborate with Alejandro Fernández,” Paula Luisi, director of Family Belong Together, said in a statement. “With your support, we can continue to advance our fight for dignity, justice and compassion for immigrant and immigrant families and defend our community from harsh immigration policies.”

Family Belong Together is a campaign by the National Domestic Workers Alliance group that was created in response to the segregation policies of immigrant families on the southern border of the United States during the administration of former President Donald Trump. Nearly 250 different organizations working to promote immigration policies that are favorable to immigrants are participating in the campaign.

Fernandez announced his US tour and campaign collaboration in April. Dubbed “Made in Mexico,” the tour, just like his last album, ended the weekend after going through cities like Las Vegas, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Miami and New York.

Last year, Fernandez won a Latin Grammy for Best Ranchera/Mariachi Music Album for “Made in Mexico.”
