ASICS celebrates 30 years of its iconic style with GEL-KAYANO™ 30

BUENOS AIRES – The Japanese expression onko chishin means “to respect the past and create new things.” With this mindset, in 1993, sneaker designer Toshikazu Kayano created a new running shoe for ASICS that would bear his name, like a stamp: KAYANO.

Today, three decades later, the new GEL-KAYANO™ 30 is one of the most chosen running shoes by athletes around the world, adapting to their needs and evolving alongside the advancement of technology.

With unprecedented levels of comfort, the popular GEL-KAYANO™ 30 shoe adds 4D Guidance™ to its design, a new technology that provides adaptive stability to the runner, adapting to changes in pronation throughout the race, from start to crossing. Access bracket.

About its creator
Toshikazu Kayano joined ASICS in 1987 to work as an industrial designer. Initially he was responsible for the development of models such as Gel-Saga and Gel-Spotlyte, which today are considered classics. During those years, the company expanded into the United States, as a running and basketball brand.

As a new task, Kayano had to create a model to replace the GT-Cool Xpress. The shoe was intended for runners, but it can also be used during sports exercises, which involve lateral movements.

For other models, Toshikazu Kayano considered elite athletes. However, for this new shoe, he had to think about its performance. So it created a tough, beetle-inspired exoskeleton, with a dual-density midsole and a new tongue design (the Monotongue System).

The new sports shoes adopted the name of their creator, as a kind of tribute to the star designer ASICS. From that moment until today, the designer has been responsible for revamping his design based on racers’ opinions and technological advances.

However, this year, Toshikazu Kayano is retiring from ASICS, contributing his expertise and creativity one last time to the GEL-KAYANO™ 30. His legacy of creating one of the most advanced footwear of the moment, with cutting edge shoes, will continue. technology. Thus, Kayano went from being a designer to being remembered as a sneakerhead, synonymous with innovation.
