New York, June 14 (EFE). Britney Spears’ ex-husband, Jason Alexander, has been arrested, charged with felony stalking and a $100,000 bail, after allegedly trying to sneak into a wedding. The pop star performed last week.
As the New York Post reported on Tuesday, Ventura County, California, prosecutors charged Alexander, 40, with trespassing, refusal to leave private property, vandalism and assault.
The judges in the case also granted Spears an order of protections and restraints from Alexander to last through June 13, 2025.
The accused pleaded not guilty to all charges against him, and denied all charges, according to the New York Times.
Spears’ attorney, Matthew Rosengart, said after the hearing that authorities and prosecutors “are taking this matter very seriously.”
“Personally, I am angry about what happened,” he said, stressing the charge of stalking. “This is a serious matter,” Rosengart added. “This is not a wedding accident. It was an offside as we saw by surprise.”
Britney Spears’ ex-husband tried to disrupt the singer’s wedding to Sam Asgari, her boyfriend of four years, last Thursday by breaking into their home hours before their wedding in a private ceremony.
Alexander was arrested outside the Spears Thousand Oaks mansion, and initially ordered to hold him on $2,500 bail for the incident.
The detainee, who married the “Baby One More Time” translator in 2004 during a trip to Las Vegas (USA) but signed a divorce 55 hours later, was able to get to Spears’ home and record preparations for the hookup.
The man managed to avoid the security perimeter of the mansion in Southern California, livestreaming it on Instagram moments before the ceremony.
“Britney Spears invited me here. She’s my first and only wife. I’m her first husband. I’m here to stop the wedding,” he shouted at the security men as the broadcast continued and before his arrest he was arrested. EFE
