Capito wouldn’t be so good now without the McLaren mission

Just Capito has been McLaren CEO for only a few months, a phase in the German’s professional career that he considers essential and without which he would not do his job in the same way now.

Capito signed with McLaren in January 2016 to become the team’s CEO, but he did not begin his duties until September of that year, when Volkswagen found a successor.

The current CEO of Williams was only at the helm of McLaren until January 2017Although he does not remember his time with the Woking team as a negative experience.

The German left his position at McLaren after sacking Woking boss Ron Dennis until then, as he was his main supporter and for whom he is highly respected.

“I had long conversations with Ron getting to know him, we got close and I think I learned a lot from him. I respected him so muchHis accomplishments have been remarkable.”

“He said he chose me to lead the team, it was a great honor and we had long discussions. Until the months we worked together, I don’t want to miss it. I don’t think I’d be good at my job now.”

Capito maintains that he and Dennis did not always share the same position, although he was able to learn a lot from Briton.

“We didn’t always have the same opinion, but we were able to have a proper discussion and see where it came from. It was very extreme and What I learned from him is really discipline“, pointed out.

“I also learned from him things that probably shouldn’t be done. For example, in the engineering office we weren’t allowed to have coffee, because it could damage the floor,” he said.

Concluding his speech, he commented, “I was very impressed with Ron, how he set up the company, how he ran the company, the discipline, the way he treats people and how we can motivate them. It was impressive.”
