BlazBlue creator leaves Arc System Works

BlazBlue creator leaves Arc System Works

BlazBlue series creator, Toshimichi Mori, has announced his departure from Arc System Works.

Mori, who has been working at the Japanese studio for nearly two decades, did not mention the reasons for leaving his position, but wanted to thank the support of his colleagues and fans. He also confirmed that he will continue to develop video games, which is not a withdrawal from the industry.

“I, Toshimichi Mori, left Arc System Works after many years of service,” he explained.

“Having been involved in developing Guilty Gear X at a company called Pickpak, I joined Arc System Works, and after developing several fighting games I was able to develop my masterpiece, BlazBlue, and had the opportunity to establish a relationship with many users.

“The many experiences I have had over the past 20 years, since I joined Arc System Works, are the treasures of my life. I can only express my gratitude to the staff of Arc System Works, to the people who have helped me, and to the users who have supported me. Thank you very much.”

Morey added, “I know this may cause concern, especially for BlazBlue users. I’m really sorry. I hope to bring more games to users in the future, and I’ll do my best to do so. I would like to thank you all for your support in advance.”

Morey joined Arc System Works in 2003, initially co-developing several installments of the Guilty Gear saga. Later, he was the producer and designer for BlazBlue, as well as the lead photographer for the first rendition of the saga.
