MOSCOW, SEPTEMBER 25 – Two people were killed today in the city of Kherson when Ukrainian missiles hit the “Play Bay Hotel Ribas”, where journalists were staying, the regional administration said.

On its Telegram channel, the local government added that media representatives were at the time of the attack at the hotel in the city center of Kherson.

According to initial reports, Alexei Zhuravko, a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada (the unicameral Ukrainian parliament) of the 5th and 6th convocations, and a facility worker, lost their lives as a result of the bombing.

The information stated that the injured were immediately transferred to medical centers in Kherson.

The administration itself emphasized that this aggression on the hotel was a planned act of terrorism for which the military and political leaders of Ukraine bear responsibility.

The statement confirmed that the Play Hotel by Ribas was not used for military purposes, only journalists and the facility’s staff, who are peaceful and defenseless, were staying there.

This bombing takes place at the beginning of the third day of the referendum on joining Russia, of the people’s republics proclaimed by Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporozhye provinces, territories occupied by the Russian army in the course of the special military operation. in Ukraine.

The aforementioned People’s Republics and the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions of Ukraine announced last September 20 that referendums would be held between 23 and 27 with a view to joining the Russian Federation.

Both Donetsk and Luhansk were in fact regions in eastern Ukraine that had declared their independence from Kyiv since May 2014 after not recognizing the new powers that resulted from the coup in February of the same year.
