Citizens failed at home vs. Marlins

Brian Anderson hit a single in the 10th inning to lead the Miami Marlins to a 7-4 victory over the Washington Nationals, who lost back defender Juan Soto to an apparent left leg injury.

The Marlins won four in a row to move three games over 0.500. They have won 11 of 12 against the Nationals and might start dreaming of the NL wild card status despite going 26-39 against the rest.

Soto arrived and aimed his left leg after making a right throw in the third inning and exiting the field after participating in a fleeing kick in the fourth. The team did not give details of his condition after the match. His hitting streak ended in eight games after he had two walks.

Miami was one step away from losing its winning streak. After Avicel Garcia went out with two in ninth, Jesus Sanchez scored a 2-2 result near Tanner Reni.

Tanner Scott (4-2) won and Dylan Floro made his first save this season with a goalless shot in tenth place.

For Marlin, Dominican Jesus Sanchez scored 4-1 in one inning, and Brian de la Cruz scored 4-1 with two runs; Venezuelans Avisiel Garcia 3-1, Miguel Rojas 1-0 and Jesus Aguilar 5-0.

Nationals, Dominican Nelson Cruz 5-1 with a record run and RBI, Victor Robles 3-1; Venezuelans Alquides Escobar scored a half, Kibert Ruiz 2-0, Cesar Hernandez 5-0, Ihir Adrianza 3-0 and Cuban Yadiel Hernandez 2-0.
