“In connection with Gabriel Borich’s victory, we appreciate the popular unity and the breadth of proposals put forward by the left and progressive parties, in which the Communists are the heroes of this struggle,” Villanueva said.

He added that “the extreme right and fascism are not defeated every day” and expressed his wish that the fate of Chile be built on the basis of a broad, participatory and anti-imperialist popular consensus.

Guerra, for his part, highlighted the significance of Borek’s victory for the region, noting that Chile is promoting the process that seeks to close the neoliberal cycle and get rid of the imperialist yoke faced by Cuba, Venezuela, Mexico, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Peru and Honduras. Argentina and now Chile.

He added that in Colombia and Ecuador, the left and progressive sectors are ahead and that Lula’s victory in Brazil is expected.

He added that in Chile, the left, progressive, democratic and patriotic trend was confirmed in Latin America, which reaches government positions, taking advantage of the spaces of liberal democracy.

He added that the region is experiencing a process “in which the United States and its hegemons are facing increasing difficulties in establishing their hegemony” and the independent integration of Latin America is emerging.

According to Guerra, the governmental challenges are enormous and the right wing will not rest in trying to defeat the Chilean process, and the lesson continues that only conscious, organized and mobilized people can respond and defeat reactionary plans.

Aida García Naranjo welcomed the victory of the Socialist Party and endorsed the words of the incoming Chilean president, meaning that “hope overcame fear”.

He commented, “José Antonio Caste’s progress and commitment to break with liberal democracy, on his way to historical fascism, broke with the gigantic social mobilization he elected in 2020 and decided to change the constitution inherited from the bloody dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet.” .

He warned that the challenge for Borek is enormous, as the referendum on the new constitution will be held during his term, which was drafted by the Constituent Assembly, headed by Elisa Lokun, who publicly supported Borek.

García Naranjo also noted that outgoing neoliberal ruler Sebastian Pinera ended his term with the stigma of corruption, due to the outrageous sale of his Dominga mine in a tax haven.
