Costa Rica Highlights Importance of Celac-China Forum

Intervening in a virtual manner at the event, Solano highlighted the value of promoting an environmental agenda as a means of rebuilding based on sustainable development paradigms, with a systematic approach to intelligent, transformative, and well-being-generating recovery for all people.

He called on Celac-China Forum members to continue betting on revitalizing critical sectors and implementing socially inclusive health policies and plans, as well as green, environmentally friendly and climate-resistant development measures, for the benefit of all. People are in harmony with nature.

The Third Ministerial Meeting of the CILAC-China Forum was co-chaired by Marcelo Ebrard, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, in his capacity as Pro Tempor of CILAC and Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister, Wang Yi.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Teko noted that the first meeting of the forum was held in Beijing under the presidency of Costa Rica, in which it was decided that it would be a platform for cooperation between the countries of the group and China; Both in the diplomatic, political, economic, scientific, technological, commercial, cultural, social and environmental fields.

At another point in his speech, Solano thanked China for the support it provided to the region in facing the health crisis caused by COVID-19.

He stressed that “the CELAC countries are among the countries in the world most affected by the epidemic, and for this reason, we recognize and appreciate the support provided by China to confront the challenges generated – and exacerbated – by the health crisis in the region.”

The Costa Rican Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that at the end of the meeting, the forum member states adopted a joint declaration and a joint SELAC-China Action Plan for the period 2022-2024.
