Declining COVID-19 infections is not synonymous with virus disappearance

Declining COVID-19 infections is not synonymous with virus disappearance

In a post on his personal Facebook page, Portal Miranda warned that the risk of contracting the disease is real, and that COVID-19 is highly transmissible and continues to claim lives in Cuban families.

He commented that the new moment that has begun to pass in the country, with the resumption of many daily activities that were halted months ago, requires doubling the individual responsibility, in all scenarios.

The title stressed that on November 4, more than 10 million Cubans began the vaccination program against the Corona virus, and as of the seventh day, seven million 779 thousand 265 people have completed, which represents 79.5 percent of the vaccinated population.

He pointed out that these numbers should increase significantly in the coming days, as 1.6 million children receive their third dose and the administration of Sopirana Plus ends with more than 45,000 adults in convalescence who were discharged during the month of August.

He referred to the intermittent start of booster vaccination, Monday, and confirmed that last week it showed the lowest number of infections since the last peak of the epidemic, which occurred in August of this year.

Three thousand 980 patients were diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past seven days, which is two thousand 271 patients less than the same previous period, and in the same period the number of people who were admitted due to contracting the disease.

They are characters who encourage us, the minister said, but this is in no way compatible with us.

He added that half of the cases diagnosed with the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19, are concentrated in the provinces of Camagüey, Sancti Spíritus and Holguín, and in a special way the necessary measures are implemented in each of them, according to their epidemiological situation.

Since March 2020, when the first cases of the epidemic were reported in Cuba, the country has collected 956,919 confirmed cases of the virus, 8,270 deaths and 946 thousand 63 patients recovered, a figure equivalent to 98.9 percent of infections.
