Electricity will rise on Monday by 26% to 242.29 euros / MWh | comp

Electricity will bounce back on Monday by 26% to 242.29 euros per megawatt-hour depending on the results of the auction in the wholesale market or “baraka” and the adjustment that will be paid after the gas cap to compensate the factories that use this. Material.

However, according to data from the electricity market operator OMIE and the Iberian Gas Market (Mibgas), the wholesale price of electricity (the price paid by consumers at a regulated rate) will be around €54 lower than the €296.13 megawatt-hour. It would have been paid if the maximum generation of electricity had not been in force.

The rally, which ended four consecutive days of declines, comes after Russia’s state-controlled gas giant Gazprom indefinitely suspended gas transportation to Europe via the Nord Stream pipeline, citing a technical malfunction.

In recent months, electricity has set record prices in European markets, averaging €308.63/MWh in August in Spain, making it the most expensive month in history.

This has led the European Commission, through its President, Ursula von der Leyen, to announce that the Community Executive is considering a possible “emergency intervention” in the electricity market.

By Monday, major European economies will remain at historically high levels as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The highest price will be recorded in Italy, where it will rise to 464.11 euros / megawatt hour, ahead of France with 435.82 euros / megawatt hour.

In Germany, the average price will be reached at €357.45/MWh, compared to €290.94/MWh (about €336 at current exchange rates) in the UK.

In Portugal, where the gas cap is also applied under the so-called “Iberian exception”, the auction price will be the same as in Spain, the country with which it shares the market.

auction

If only the results of the auction in the wholesale market are considered, without including the adjustment that the beneficiaries of the gas cap must pay to compensate the stations using this substance, the electricity will also rise by about 23%, reaching 188.53 euros / MWh.

Depending on the time ranges (and always without including the aforementioned adjustment), the maximum rate will be recorded between 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM, at €277/MWh; While the minimum will be 121.19 euros / megawatt-hour, between 4 and 5 pm.

But to these amounts must be added the cost of adjusting gas stations, the amount of which varies according to the volume required by the system and its price, and affects the beneficiary households and companies.

For Monday, the average temporary adjustment for consumers will be €53.76 / MWh, with the final price being € 242.29 / MWh, almost double its price a year ago.
