Guatemala has closed its only working hospital against Covid-19

The wallet confirmed that it stopped working a week ago, specifically on Thursday, June 1, due to the lack of infection with the disease compared to the daily checks.

The care center, with a capacity of 134 beds, was the second center ready in April 2020 to serve residents infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which is causing the pandemic.

The first to be enabled here was the Parque de la Industria, in District 9 of this capital, which also recently closed its doors.

MSPAS previously indicated that patients can continue their medical care due to the consequences of the pathogen in the Rodolfo Robles Specialized Hospital, where they will receive care through comprehensive services.

Patients can also go to district hospital centers, institutions or health centers in their area, or to the Western Regional Hospital.

The country’s Minister of Public Health, Francisco Coma, warned three days in advance of a possible increase in infections in the coming months (July and August).

He said that the behavior in the past two weeks reflects a slight upward trend in the number of cases, but he ruled out that the matter is worrisome, because it is mild.

Experts note that the XBB1.1.5 variant of Ómicron, which has been prevalent for some time in the nation, is worth continuing with basic prevention measures, such as washing hands, using a mask, and avoiding crowds, especially in people with any respiratory symptoms.

They also suggest providing assistance to health services for timely attention to warning signs, especially in children over 60 years of age and people with chronic diseases.
