This Sunday, February 12, the wait is over and after six weeks of daily work, the Chile Women’s National Team departs for Auckland, New Zealand, to play in the playoffs for the 2023 Women’s World Cup starting this Thursday. .

In the play-offs, La Roja will kick off with a friendly against Argentina, scheduled for Friday 17th at 3:30pm. Then comes the main match, in which the nationals will face the winner of Senegal vs. Haiti, on Tuesday the 21st at 10:00pm. The winner of that match will get the World Cup.

A large group left Santiago for New Zealand. There are 17 players apart from the coaching staff and staff who started the journey a few minutes after midnight on Sunday. It will be a direct flight which is expected to arrive in Auckland around 1:00 PM.

On social networks, La Roja shared pictures of the players starting their journey to New Zealand. A number of relatives accompanied them before leaving Chile, all too focused on the brink of danger of qualifying for a second successive World Cup.

The other six invited footballers (Christian Endler, Karen Araya, Camila Sass, Francisca Lara, Antonia Canales and Sonia Keefe) will join the team directly in the overseas territories due to their arrival from Europe and their commitments with their respective clubs.

For now, the itinerary includes training on Monday afternoon (early morning in Chile) and continuing to prepare for next Friday’s opener against Argentina. This will be the third and last friendly before the main fight.
