Lotus announces an all-electric SUV with 600 horsepower and 373 miles of range

Lotus announces an all-electric SUV with 600 horsepower and 373 miles of range

The Lotus Eletre is the company’s first mass-market electric vehicle and is a sports car despite its SUV construction.

Lotus delivered a number of firsts with Eletre. It’s the company’s first SUV, the company’s first four-door SUV and the first mass-market electric vehicle. Of course, the Lotus Evija is the first all-electric supercar, but this is a limited production model and costs more than 2 million, certainly not a mass market. And let’s not forget that the Lotus Elise was the basis of the first Tesla Roadster.

While many will scoff at Lotus’ launch of an SUV, it is entering the market for luxury models such as the Lamborghini Urus, Porsche Cayenne and Aston DBX. This is a common category, so it would be foolish not to fall into the Lotus. However, the Eletre has one big advantage: it’s an all-electric SUV.

With the advancement of electric vehicles, the Lotus Eletre has some impressive numbers. Power output starts at 600 hp and increases on some models. It has a 0-62 mph time of less than three seconds, and perhaps most impressively, a Range up to 373 miles. this is He is Thanks to the battery over 100 kWh 800 volts.

This full-size SUV includes several Lotus models, some of which look like they came straight out of the Evija. The pointed nose handles the air and sends the bottom through the body, thanks to a series of channels that run directly on the wheels and along the wings. The active front grille can be opened to provide air to the radiator and engines when needed and closed when not. At the rear, an active rear spoiler provides more downforce as needed and more air ducts pass directly from the rear wheels.

Inside, there’s an ultra-slim infotainment display behind the square steering wheel and the display mirrors another slim info-display in front of the passenger. In the center there is a 15.1 inch screen that can be folded when not needed. There is also a standard driver display. Voice control with intelligent voice recognition is available, but for basic functions there are also manual buttons.

Not forgetting the sound, the Eletre features KEF Premium audio in a 15-speaker layout, and can be upgraded to a KEF 23-speaker reference layout. Advanced driver assistance systems use LIDAR sensors that exit the vehicle’s body when needed. Lotus says this will support end-to-end autonomous driving.

Sport front seats are mirrored in the rear on the four-seater Eletre, providing a luxurious passenger experience with tilt features and a large central armrest, complete with a display and storage. There will also be a five-seater version with a regular rear seat with split thirds to access the trunk. As an SUV, the Eletre has a large trunk that provides 400 liters of storage for all those family bags.

If Lotus Eletre helps keep Lotus profitable and allows them to create striped electric coupes, crossovers and sports cars, that’s good. Meanwhile, it’s probably the most impressive electric SUV to date.
