Metropolitan vs. Lanus – Match Report – 7 April 2022

(EFE) – Lanus earned a point on his visit to the Venezuelan capital with a 0-0 draw on the first day of Group A of the Copa Sudamericana, in a match played in Caracas.

With this equality, Ecuadorean Barcelona topped Group A with 3 points, followed by Lanos and Metropolitanos with one point, and the last team without adding is Uruguay Wanderers.

In a rather slow game, the Metropolitans demonstrated their superiority as locals with more confrontation and more scoring opportunities, at least four in the first half, over a convincing one from the Chestnut team in the first part.

For the Metropolitans, Carlos Sosa and Robinson Flores stood out in the first half, each with two shots that gave rhythm to the match played at the Olympic Stadium of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV).

Sosa tried to open the scoring in the 13th minute with a shot that was blocked from the left side from outside the area with the help of Darwin Gomez.

Another obvious opportunity for the Metropolitan came on the 31st with Robinson Flores who made a shot that hit the left corner, but was stopped.

But five minutes into the first half, Lanus became active and winger Alexandro Bernabe hit a ball from the center of the area at ground level that was blocked by Venezuelan goalkeeper Giancarlo Schiavone.

Later, Garnet maintained the vitality of the end of the first half and came dangerously close to the local goal on several occasions without specifying.

In the 80th minute, striker Jose Lopez caused the Metropolitans to panic with a left-footed shot from very close range, soaring high and failing to enter.

Thus, Lanos broke his tradition of scoring goals in the matches he plays as a visitor, as he has been doing in the last seven matches played in this instance.

The Argentines and the citizens of Caracas will face each other again on the closing day of the group stage, on May 26 at the Estadio Nestor Diaz Perez in Buenos Aires.
