BOGOTA, January 27 (.) – The Swiss multinational food company Nestle (SIX 🙂 announced on Friday that between this year and 2026 it will invest $ 100 million in Colombia, with which the company will be able to increase its production capacity, accelerate digital transformation and ensure sustainability operational.

The company said in a statement that it is the embodiment of an agreement reached between the national government and Nestlé, within the framework of the participation of the Colombian President, Gustavo Petro, in the World Economic Forum summit in Davos, Switzerland.

As part of the investment plan, Nestlé announced on Friday the opening of a new production line for its Milo brand in the Bugalagrande plant (Valle del Cauca, southwest), with an investment of more than $13 million, which will allow it to increase by 15% its export capacity.

Founded in 1944, this factory is the only multi-product factory in Colombia, as well as being the company’s first factory in the country.

“What we have inaugurated is an investment of 13 million dollars and an announcement of another 100 million dollars. This means, in these days, showing confidence in Colombia, without a doubt, in its future, because these investments are not short-term, they will remain “, stressed the head of state, who attended the inauguration New Milo line.

For his part, Colombia’s Minister of Finance and Public Credit, José Antonio Ocampo, celebrated “Nestlé’s commitment to Colombia, with these planned investments of $100 million. We hope to continue working together to make it effective.”

In a statement, Nestlé explained that the investment will be distributed among the various companies in which it holds a majority stake, which will allow it to locate resources in cities such as Bogalagrand, Valledupar, Dosquebradas and Mosquera.

Meanwhile, the CEO of Nestlé for the Americas emphasized that “announcing our investment strategy for the next three years has only one meaning: we believe in Colombia and its development potential”.

The executive explained that the decision to invest in Colombia will allow them to strengthen the product portfolio and that it will succeed in “aligning with some of the government’s priority points regarding the possibility of youth employment, promoting human rights and building peaceful societies, and is committed to developing concrete initiatives to reduce polluting emissions and take care of the planet.”
