Palestine criticized Israeli restrictions on Christians in Jerusalem

Palestine criticized Israeli restrictions on Christians in Jerusalem

In a statement, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates described the Israeli strategy as racist and oppressive and in violation of international law.

He stressed that this move is a collective punishment against all Palestinians living in Jerusalem, and a flagrant assault on the existing historical and legal status quo.

In addition, he said, it constitutes a clear violation of Israel’s obligations as the occupying power of the city.

The Foreign Ministry stressed that the actions of that country in the occupied region are null, illegal and illegal in accordance with international and humanitarian law.

This week, the Greek Orthodox Church of San Porfirio, located in the Gaza Strip, decried that the Israeli government revoked permits for Christians living in the coastal enclave to visit holy sites in the West Bank.

The church said on its Facebook page, “Based on the instructions received from the brothers in the (Palestinian) Ministry of Civil Affairs, we inform you that the Israeli side has canceled the permits for Easter.”

The Jerusalem Post revealed that around 700 people were granted permission to move, but the decision was later revoked without explanation from that country’s government.

To leave the Strip, where more than two million Palestinians live, a special Israeli permit is required, even if it is for a medical emergency.

On the occasion of Easter, many Gaza Christians travel to the cities of Jerusalem and Bethlehem to visit places of worship.
