Rainy season: Mensa offers recommendations to take care of your health | News

With regard to the breeding of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, a vector that transmits dengue, Zika and chikungunya, the health sector recommends washing, cleaning and covering the containers in which water accumulates; remove careless things; Since they have become potential breeding grounds.

If mosquitoes are present, it is recommended to wear light-colored clothing that covers most of the skin, and use mosquito nets and mosquito repellents.

Mensa states that the main symptoms are high fever, redness of the skin, cough, chills, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration or abdominal and muscle pain, and headache.

Walking or playing in standing water that may contain rodent or animal urine can cause a person to contract leptospirosis, a zoonotic disease caused by pathogenic bacteria.

Health professionals recommend avoiding direct contact with standing water, in areas close to the home you should avoid providing shelter for rodents, keeping the surroundings tidy, removing debris and litter, and keeping grass and shrubs short.

To prevent respiratory infections, ventilate the rooms of your home, even if it’s cold. Avoid sudden changes in temperature, wash your hands frequently, always shake blankets and clean the room properly.

Acute diarrheal diseases in boys and girls can be avoided by complying with all their vaccinations. Wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly, and wash your hands after going to the bathroom and before preparing food. Take your boy or girl to the health facility to monitor growth and development.
