Cincinnati – The Cincinnati Reds traded veteran catchers on Wednesday Tucker Barnhart Detroit Tigers vs Nick Quintana.
Barnhart, a 31-year-old left-handed hitter with a gold glove tag behind the board, is leaving Cincinnati after eight years. In his past six seasons, he has led the Reds in games as a key player behind the board and in the roles he has played. He won the Golden Glove in 2017 and 2020.
“While we faced this gap we knew that the hunting center would be a priority for us,” said Alavila, the general manager of Tigers. “During our recent strategy meetings in Lakeland, Florida, the name Tucker appeared several times as an attractive option for the club.”
new Tyler Stevenson The Reds were involved at the start of last season, making Barnhart – and his contract – unexpendable.
Barnhart hit .247 with 7 holders and 48 RBIs in 2021. Stevenson hit average hit .286, 10 runs and 45 RBI.
The Reds will get 24-year-old Quintana, the Tigers’ second-round pick in 2019. In 2021, he hit .196 with nine runs for the Tigers’ Class A branch in Lakeland.
