Tesla opens up its Supercharger network to all electric vehicles in New Zealand

Tesla opens up its Supercharger network to all electric vehicles in New Zealand

Tesla has made an exciting announcement aimed at accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in New Zealand. The company has opened its Supercharger network to all EV owners in the country, giving them convenient access to fast charging infrastructure.

With the move, New Zealand electric car owners have access to six Superchargers sites spread across New Zealand. These sites offer a total of 30 charging stations, ensuring EV owners have ample charging facilities in key locations such as Christchurch, Timaru, Queenstown, Auckland, Rotorua and New Plymouth.

To use Superchargers, customers must download the Tesla app. Existing Tesla owners will continue to enjoy their current access benefits, while the network will also welcome new users regardless of the brand of their EV.

Tesla has demonstrated its commitment to supporting sustainable energy and transitioning to a zero-emissions future. Rather than creating a closed network to gain a competitive advantage, the company aims to encourage more drivers to switch to electric vehicles.

Superchargers network offers many benefits to users. Offering fast and convenient charging options, EVs can add up to 285 km of range in just 15 minutes. Tesla Superchargers are known for their reliability, with an average global uptime of 99.95% in 2022.

Tesla actively monitors each Supercharger site to manage congestion and collect user feedback, ensuring the charging experience is efficient and enjoyable for all EV owners.

This bold move by Tesla is a significant step towards the widespread adoption of electric vehicles in New Zealand. Availability of supercharger network to all EV owners will undoubtedly contribute to the growth of emission-free mobility in the country.
