Skytrax It unveiled the world’s 100 best airports for 2021 and the defending champion was removed.

Since 1999, Skytrax, an aviation rating company, has funded a global airport customer satisfaction survey called the Passenger Choice Awards. Now in its 22nd year, the company has continued the annual tradition despite the impact of the pandemic.

Expert travelers reviewed over 500 airports based on various factors, including check-in, shopping, immigration, security, cleanliness, terminal convenience, environment, choice of bars and restaurants, and airport accessibility. A specific section on COVID-19 was also included in the investigation.

European and Asian airports topped the top 20 list again this year, with Doha’s Hamad International Airport taking first place and ending Singapore’s Changi Airport’s eight-year winning streak. There was a uniform distribution of airports on every continent that were ranked in the top 20, although Asia saw seven airports in the top ten list, including three in Japan alone. Europe managed to climb three places into the top ten, an improvement from only two places last year.

Australia’s Melbourne Airport has fallen five places since 2020, ranking 22nd this year and taking the continent out of the top 20 by 2021. North America has also fallen far behind, and no airport has even ranked among the top 20. Vancouver International Airport. The highest-ranked airport in the Americas was at 24, down from 13 in 2020. Houston’s George Bush International Airport succeeded in ranking the United States. United finished 30th this year with a ranking of 25, followed by Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport at 42nd and Denver International Airport at 44th, both of which came out of the top 30 airports of 2020.
