Modern planes, comfortable seats, and very nice flight attendants.

These are the factors that many rankings take into account to determine the best airlines in the world.

But they ignore a crucial element, according to passenger rights firm AirHelp, which is how airlines deal with customers when problems arise.

“We believe an airline should be evaluated not only by the way it treats its passengers during normal business hours, but also by the care it shows customers when things go wrong,” the report said.

To compile its annual AirHelp Score, the organization evaluated 83 airlines based on their punctuality, customer reviews and the efficiency with which they handle customer compensation claims.
