The government of El Salvador tightens the siege on gangs (+ photo)

Since the Armed Forces and the National Civilian Police (PNC) began the fifth phase of the regional control plan last Saturday in Soyapango, known as the industrial city of the country, actions against gang members and collaborators have increased.

Many of those people and the attorney general’s office have been charged with crimes against them and others are being investigated in a process that could take up to 15 days, according to prosecutors.

The operations in the municipality were accompanied by the handover by the Minister of Defense, Rene Francis Merino, of modern technologies such as 1,300 ballistic helmets, 2,000 ballistic plates and 184 helmet cameras to accompany the troops in pursuit of gangs (gangs).

During the handover ceremony, the chief of defense said that the blockade is thinking of “various operations, there are patrols, there is a safe house, there are recovery operations, vehicle control points, all these operations are what give us as a result those criminals who remained hidden in the municipality.”

Besides the spread, the day before, President Najib Boukil launched serious and harsh accusations against international organizations, he said, which are allegedly interested in continuing the bloodbath in Latin America.

The president has drawn frequent criticism of his government from institutions such as the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), a key and “independent” body of the Organization of American States (OAS) that is unceasing in its attacks on the policies. Against gangs or gangs, he said.

In a message on social networks, Bukele called a “corrupt scheme” those persecuted by these institutions, the NGOs that fund them, and the media that oppose government policy.

These organizations have an interest in continuing the bloodbath in Latin America. “They attack those who fight crime and terrorism, while promoting ways for criminals and terrorists to reach or return to political power,” he added.

He said that these organizations do not seek to eradicate the problem of violence in the region, which is why they criticize effective measures such as those taken during his administration in El Salvador.

Since the government intensified its anti-gang offensive last March after a weekend with 87 dead, which led to a state of emergency decree to combat violence and killings, an ongoing campaign has been unleashed by the US-based groups.
