Guanajuato. Guanajuato. April 21, 2023.– The Gto health system reports that in 2023, 10,913 cases of poisoning from scorpion stings were reported among 46 municipalities.

While last year, on the same dates, 8,952 cases were reported, an increase of 21.9 percent.

Dr. Daniel Alberto Diaz Martínez, Head of the Health System, reports that scorpion sting poisoning is a health problem of remarkable importance in Mexico, which requires maximum support for the implementation of epidemiological surveillance measures.

Depending on the type of scorpion and the individual’s sensitivity to its venom, it can range from mild to life-threatening.
