Arlington, Texas- The Texas Rangers are hoping the third time’s the charm with their star Max Scherzer.

Scherzer lost in his first playoff game, Game 3 of the ALCS against the Houston Astros, and was eliminated in Game 7 without a decision, his first two appearances since injuring his forearm on September 12.

Bushey said he believed Scherzer was very close to making a full recovery from the injury, from which he was unable to begin rehab because the minor leagues ended their seasons.

“I think it can go further,” he said. “I’ve talked to him about it. He’s feeling more comfortable. He may not be able to throw 100 pitches yet, but he’s pretty close.”

Scherzer is 0-1 with a 9.45 ERA in 6 2/3 innings in two postseason outings against the Astros.

Leclerc eliminates the qualifier

Rangers reliever Jose Leclerc has taken it upon himself more than ever during the postseason. He entered Game Two of the World Series with 12.1 innings pitched, the third-most by a bullpen in postseason history.

Locklear was the Texan with 10 wins before Saturday in these playoffs. Ninth pitcher in history with 10 or more games finished.

“To be honest, I never imagined they would use me so much in these qualifiers,” Leclerc said. “But it makes me very proud because it means they trust me. I’m very grateful to (Coach Bruce) Bochy,” he added.

Indoor baseball again

The roof at Globe Life Field will be closed for the second time in as many World Series games, said Major League Baseball, which made the decision.

According to the rules, the roof must be closed if temperatures fall below 60 degrees Fahrenheit (16 degrees Celsius) or rise above 80 degrees.

The expected start temperature for the match is approximately 65 degrees Fahrenheit (19 Celsius), in addition to the weather forecast including the possibility of rain.

This postseason, the retractable roof was only open for Game 4 of the American League Championship Series against the Houston Astros.
