Málaga, September 28 (Europe Press) –

Specialists from the Health Protection Unit of the Valle del Guadalhorce, a support organ of the Guadalhorce Health District, received the 3rd prize for the best communication at the 4th Andalusian Congress of Veterinary Public Health held in Málaga on 22 and 23 September and in this regard edition the main theme was “The science of Epidemiology and health control in public health.

Promoted by the Andalusian Council of Official Veterinary Societies, this conference is held every two years and aims to discuss applicable health policies and highlight the veterinary profession.

This fourth edition was attended by the Regional Delegate for Health and Consumption, Carlos Bautista, over two hundred specialists who dealt with issues such as epidemiology, veterinary control in public health, or diseases of animal origin.

Of the total 74 theses presented at the conference, the first and second prizes went to two research groups incorporated at the Universities of Cordoba and Malaga, respectively, and the third prize was awarded to the group of professionals from the Valle del Valle Health Promotion Unit. Guadalhorce with its statement “Analysis of Indicators for Pre-Slaughter Screening in Pigs (2018-2021)”, they noted from the Board in a statement.

This contact focused on sanitary inspection at slaughterhouses, in particular pre- and post-mortem (pre- and post-mortem) inspections, which are necessary to verify compliance with requirements relating to human health, animal health and animal welfare.

The study analyzes the evolution of pre-mortem examination results in a large-capacity industrial slaughterhouse over a four-year period and compares them with similar studies by other authors in the European Union.

The conclusions indicate that, although the results obtained are within the ranges that can be considered optimal, the upward development of some rates causes concern and grounds the control measures by official veterinary services.
