The head of the Parliament's Production, Economy and Budget Committee confirmed that this jump will also appear in the increase in air traffic and in the transport of goods and passengers.

“In addition, this will have a multiplier effect on international private investments and on the better development of the national economy, tourism, road infrastructure and much more,” he added.

The Nicaraguan parliamentarian described the initiative as one of the most important projects in the history of economic growth during this five-year period of the Sandinista National Liberation Front government.

“Undoubtedly, if we saw the first phase of the revolution and if we saw the second phase, it was only in the Sandinista government that the airport infrastructure in our country was developing,” he stressed.

He explained that Central America has 20 international airports, of which Nicaragua is the only country in the region that has an airport of this type, unlike other countries that have two or more airports.

The Punta Huete International Airport project in this Central American country will be implemented in two parts, the first of which will be funded at 1,438,420,906.22 yuan (about 199,957,766.98 US dollars).

Meanwhile, the second section of the air terminal reconstruction, which will have the capacity to serve up to 3.5 million passengers annually, will amount to 1,436,231,236.69 yuan (about 1,996,533,376.58 US dollars).
