They pulled sugar from several Cuban wineries after discovering a ‘foreign substance’

Quantities of sugar are being investigated from several Cuban warehouses, where some fragments of “foreign matter” were discovered in bags of products sold to the population. Immediately, it was declared “unfit” for human consumption.

According to the official networks of the Matanzas government, during the past few days, several complaints appeared in the municipality of Cárdenas about the quality of (white) sugar distributed in the network of warehouses corresponding to the month of November.

They add that most of the non-conformities were related to the physical appearance of the product, in particular its colour. However, the most important thing was to attract attention, from the residents of Santa Marta, after they were discovered An “insoluble foreign substance” inside refined sugar.

The authorities confirmed that a sample of the product was immediately “taken to the laboratory of the Municipal Center for Health and Epidemiology in Cárdenas, where it was confirmed the presence of unacceptable particles (pieces of materials varying in size and quantity)”.

Hence, they considered that the white sugar they are selling for consumption this month does not meet “specialized standards” and cannot be used for human use and nutrition.

They indicate that the Public Health has directed the Municipal Company for Trade and Gastronomy to stop selling sugar in all the region’s warehouses and direct the investigation into the samples already stored in the mentioned warehouses, something that will continue during this week.
