Thousands of people are protesting against health restrictions in New Zealand

Wellington (AFP) – Thousands of protesters in front of the New Zealand Parliament on Tuesday protested against restrictions imposed by the Kovit-19 epidemic, sparking a large police deployment in Wellington.

About 3,000 people, mostly without masks, marched to the center of the capital, with some members of the group of motorcyclists making deafening noises.

At the meeting, some carried the flags of former US President Donald Trump’s 2020 election campaign.

There were slogans against Prime Minister Jacinta Order or lies being told in the media about the epidemic.

The protest was peaceful and disbanded after protesters performed the traditional Mauryan dance hakka in front of parliament.

No arrests have been made in Wellington, but an officer has been bitten in a small protest in Auckland, which has been under control since mid-August.

Prime Minister Ardern has vowed that the opposition is not “representative” of the New Zealand community, which, in his view, largely supports his government’s crackdown on the virus.

The country has imposed severe prisons and border closures, with only 31 of the five million Govt deaths occurring.

When 90% of the population is fully vaccinated, Ardern promises to introduce more liberties only to those who are immunized. Now, 90% is the first dose.
