Yuga Labs Prize NFT Offers $1.1 Million to Winner Dookey Dash

A group of NFT enthusiasts are trying to buy The key to winning Dookey Dash is an endless runner-type game from Yuga Labs and made an exorbitant bid of $1.1 million for the asset.

Yuga Labs is the $4 billion company behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club and also owns the NFT Crypto Punks pool. UpDAO is the group behind the winning bid for the key, which has yet to be accepted by the current owner, 18-year-old Fortnite player Kyle “Mongraal” Jackson.

Mongraal listed its NFT key for 2,222 ETH, which equates to about $3.5 million. UpDAO is connected to the Pixel Vault Inhabitant Universe, an upcoming Web3 game with NFT characters. A DAO is a decentralized online community that typically pools funds into a common wallet and votes on where that money should go. UpDAO currently has about $24.4 million in community treasury, which means that offering is about 5% of its assets.

Mongraal has only 48 hours left to accept or ignore the offer. Mongraal has not yet responded to Decrypt’s request for comment on whether it is indeed considering accepting UpDAO’s offer.

UpDAO’s bid drew some criticism with one Twitter user arguing that the bid is a waste of money.

“If this is what DAOs decided to do with a million dollars, then I think the future of DAOs is very doubtful, but that’s just me,” Web3 designer “Punter” writes.

PixelVault’s chief communications officer, David “Economist” Litsky, responded that the community had plans for a Dookey Dash key should UpDAO successfully acquire it.

“PV is embracing a decentralized gaming protocol that anyone can use to develop their software. Word from the community is that they will likely vote to put this 1/1 asset as a tournament prize for games built on top of the protocol, and thus help spread more awareness,” Litsky said.

Yuga Labs hasn’t yet announced what rewards the Sewer Pass will give, but some community members are speculating that each key will unlock a mechanical or robotic toy in the future Yuga metaverse.

Dookey Dash in its original form is no longer playable. During the time of its existence, some Sewer Pass NFT holders have rented thousands of dollars in “boosters” to play games on their accounts in hopes of getting a high score.
