Royal Spanish Athletics Federation physiotherapist Angel Pasas (55) and his son Carlos (23) died in a road accident in New Zealand on Friday.They were on holiday last week after the father went with the Spanish team to the cross world championships in Bathurst (Australia).

Born in Salamanca, the 55-year-old Bazas, a triple jumper over fifteen meters in his youth, was a member of the technical staff of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation. Apart from being a member of the Medical Commission of the Spanish Olympic Committee, he was part of the national expedition to eight Olympic Games and more than 100 international competitions.

The Royal Spanish Athletics Federation was responsible for releasing the news via social networks: “We are in agony and still processing the news we just received. Angel Bassas and his son Carlos have died in a road accident in New Zealand. Rest in peace”.
