Paris, November 23. – The European Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton, spoke on Wednesday of an agreement with the United States due to the distorting effect of competition in the inflation control law, since the dispute is in front of the world. A competition organization (WTO) would hurt everyone.

“Nobody is interested in going to the WTO,” he stressed in an interview with French TV channel LCI, in which he expressed the hope that “reason will win.”

On December 5, Breton, accompanied by other European commissioners, is scheduled to go to Washington to discuss the matter with American officials.

The European Head of the Internal Market indicated that he was the first to warn that the law to curb inflation “has the potential to be a real distortion of competition.”

With this legislation, Washington plans to allocate $400,000 million in new investments, primarily focused on strengthening the country’s green energy industry and reducing polluting gas emissions.

The problem is that these aids are provided with a series of preferences for US-made products that Brussels believes will discriminate against companies set up abroad and likely lead to transfers.

Breton insisted that “we have to be very clear” and say what problems it raises. He noted that it is an important issue for the Europeans, who will have to put “comparable elements” on the table to influence the debate.
