For his part, the representative of the Pan American Health Organization / WHO in Costa Rica, Alfonso Tenorio, commented that the Vaccination Week in the Americas is a very important celebration because it was in this region that this initiative was born 21 years ago.

He pointed out that the celebration this year has several goals, including promoting the acceptance and application of vaccines at all ages, as well as preserving regional goals to eliminate and restore diseases that can be prevented through immunization.

He stressed that the Vaccination Week in the Americas is a strategy to complement the efforts of national immunization programs, which are the first line of defense against disease outbreaks and prevent about 174,000 deaths of children under the age of five every year in the region. .
