The New Zealand team won the gold medal in the women’s rugby 7 tournament by defeating France 26-12 in the final this Saturday.
The two-time world champions New Zealand beat Fiji 22-17 in the semifinals after the extension, while the Blues beat the British 26-19 to reach the final.
The Fijians won the bronze medal, beating the girls of Great Britain 21-12.
The finals of the tournament at the Tokyo Stadium this Saturday were decided with the respective final qualifiers.
The Brazilians, who first opened the hostility, fell to Japan 21-12, finishing eleventh and finishing the championship with a smile.
