Tablet vs. Laptop: which device to consider for daily use?

This is a tricky question to answer, considering how many devices we have to use for online browsing. Each of these electronic objects we use on a daily basis were created with a clear purpose and several benefits in mind. Some are more fit for interaction or a pocket, some for research and browsing, while others are perfect tools for editing and working. Depending on the purpose of use and location, we can make a short list and compare which of the two is most useful for daily use.

Free time

The generosity of devices used in our free time is impressive. We can adapt the gadgets to our hobbies, the location where we are or the moment of the day. Some people find it more accessible to support their activities with a smartphone or a tablet, while the others are finding their relaxation in sitting with a laptop on a home coach or in a café. Either of these work, as long as the free time is perceived as personal time.

The majority of the casino players or online gamers are more attracted by a tablet, if they are in a remote location. The technology used now to create casino platforms is quite sophisticated and playing games on a tablet screen is offering a complete personal experience, with higher screen resolution than on a smartphone and less restrictive in mobility than on a laptop or desktop.

Work from home or office

Office work definitely requires a larger screen and a keyboard that facilitates interactions, writing emails, editing of documents, designing presentations and many others in the most efficient way. A tablet would not be able to meet all those requirements on a professional level. Therefore, a desktop or a laptop are the ideal solution for working. Even though a fixed station comes with the benefit of a larger screen, or even multiple screens, the mobility of the laptop is a winner.

During the last few years, with the introduction of work from home trend or hybrid work, the laptop proved to be the best solution, allowing the user to stay connected to the network during the constant travel in between office and home, without losing the work started and the quality of editing.

Family travel and vacation

A vacation without electronics would mean the perfect relaxation. However, few are the situations in which we take no gadgets with us. So, since the phone is irreplaceable, why not pack the larger version, a tablet, that allows both calling, accessing social media and reading online articles.

A tablet on the go is very comfortable to pack and carry in a purse. It is convenient to use on a beach or on a plane. It also allows a minimum of contact with persons, emails and even checking the most urgent work notifications. Carrying a laptop to vacation, on top of being uncomfortable, may sound even disappointing to the other members of the crew who will perceive it as potential for individual isolation and working hours.

In conclusion, in general, if you need to type more or work on several applications simultaneously, you might find the laptop to be a better option. A laptop is more work related than a tablet and requires a more chair and table kind of a setup for full usefulness. In case you only need to browse the internet, search for articles, shop online, check the daily news or just play a game, the tablet proves to be a lighter object to carry around, more versatile than a smartphone and large enough to provide high quality images or videos.
