The Historic Charter Proposes the Full Participation of Women in Colombia

The platform of the Petro government, which together with (Vice Presidential hopeful) Francia Marquez won the first election round last Sunday and advanced with more votes to the second round on June 19, includes women as champions in different areas of the life of this nation.

The section, called Colombia is a woman, contains 13 proposals in favor of a sector that exceeds 50 percent of the population in Colombia.

Likewise, the Historic Charter proposes to strengthen the National Program for Safe Cities and Territories that guarantees spaces free from gender violence, for all women that guarantee rights at all levels, in all areas of social, economic, cultural and political work.

The government’s charter program assures that it will ensure that women hold 50% of jobs in all branches of the public sector, and fight the wage gap.

He proposes and is indeed a fact, lists, parity in presidential formula and parity in governing Colombia.

With more than eight million votes, the historic compact’s presidential formula won the first electoral round, but it will go to the second round on June 19 against Rodolfo Hernandez and Marilyn Castillo of the Anti-Corruption League.

Hernandez has been criticized for his rhetoric against women, saying he prefers them to be at home to do household chores.
