The United Nations condemns the rebel attack on an oil port in Yemen

United Nations, October 27 (Prince Latina) The United Nations Security Council has condemned the drone attacks launched by the Ansar Allah movement on the oil port of Dabba, which it described today as a threat to the peace process in Yemen.

Members of that body stressed that events such as the one that occurred in that deposit in Hadhramaut Governorate on October 21 also endanger maritime security, including the rights and freedoms of navigation enshrined in international law.

In this sense, they emphasized that any escalation of the rebel group would only exacerbate the suffering of the Yemeni people, and called for an immediate cessation of such attacks.

At the same time, they urged Ansar Allah (Houthis/Ansar Allah) to respect their obligations under international humanitarian law, to give priority to the Yemeni people, and to participate constructively in efforts to renew the truce.

The Council renewed its support for the United Nations Special Envoy, Hans Grundberg, in his efforts to achieve a comprehensive political settlement and Yemeni leadership through negotiation on the basis of agreed parameters.

On October 22, the Arab Foreign Minister, Ahmed bin Mubarak, expressed his disapproval of Ansar Allah’s attacks on two oil ports in southern Yemen.

The war in the poor Arab country has been going on for more than eight years, when the rebel movement took up arms and occupied large areas of the national territory, including its capital, Aden.
