“All the beautiful things I’ve seen here on Twitter with the support they gave me at my Coachella show make me cry nonstop and heart wrinkled,” the artist tweeted before taking to the stage.

The cake was crowned with her performance of the song “Tusa”, which has racked up over 1.3 billion views on YouTube.

In addition to Karol G, Colombians Ela Minus and Jessie Reyez (daughter of Colombian parents) are among those invited to the festival. In other editions, Bomba Estero, Diamante Eléctrico, J Balvin, and Kali Uchis made up the main line-up.

The last edition of the festival was in 2019, although the official income figures go back to 2017, when it reported profits in excess of $115 million. Compared to other big 2019 events like Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival ($29.63 million) and Life is Beautiful Festival ($17.7 million), Coachella is in a league of its own.

At the time, Coachella became the first recurring festival to break $100 million in revenue in one year. In just 10 years, the festival has gone from receiving $16 million in 2007, when it was a single weekend, to the astronomical amounts it’s gone since 2017.

Last January, Coachella sold out its tickets in just 75 minutes, paving the way for the restoration of great music festivals after the covid-19 pandemic. In addition to Karol G, oachella has Harry Styles and Billie Eilish, among other great artists on her label.

Next month, the BottleRock Festival, themed Twenty One Pilots, Metallica and Pink, will take place May 27-29 in Napa Valley, California; Bonaro, titled J. Cole, Tolle and Stevie Nicks, June 16-19 in Manchester, Tennessee.
