In this sense, the director of the Four Liberty prison, the sheriff of the lower court and two security agents were arrested on charges of bribery in the release of a criminal gang leader.

According to local media, the officials, who received bribes of $ 8000, forged documents that allowed the release of prisoner Jean-Sami Dorville, nicknamed “T-Sami”, from prison.

For his part, Jean-Sami Dorville, who was amputated for murder, rape, robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime, is considered the leader of one of the most dangerous gangs in Haiti.

For his part, the Attorney General of the Government of Four Liberty, Eno Zverin, said Tuesday that investigations into the case are still ongoing, and therefore does not rule out the possibility of an increase in the number of those involved.

The prison system in Haiti is among the most backward in various aspects. There have been several complaints from international organizations regarding high levels of corruption.

In line with this, experts see the high death rate in Haitian prisons as the main reason for the high rate of bribery in recent years.
