Rewards small businesses and not-for-profits in New Zealand with the Zero Beautiful Business Fund

Zero, the global platform for small businesses, has announced the winners of the first Zero Beautiful Business Fund in New Zealand. The fund, with a prize of NZ$750,000, aims to help Xero clients achieve their growth plans and drive their future success. Winners were selected based on 90-second videos showing how to use the funds to support their business goals in one of four categories: Innovation for Sustainability, Strengthening Community Connectivity, Technological Innovation and Training for the Future.

Among the New Zealand winners was Buzz Burrows, a Wānaka lighting manufacturer, who was recognized as the winner in the ‘Technology Innovation’ category. They plan to improve their manufacturing process by investing in a state-of-the-art laser cutter. Togo Rugby Football Club in Milton won the ‘Strengthening Community Connection’ category and intends to upgrade its facilities to create a community sports centre. Kiwi Skips, a waste management company based in Invercargill, was awarded in the ‘Innovation for Sustainability’ category for its efforts to develop a resource recovery facility for construction and demolition waste. Finally, Intricate Developments, a construction company in Taumarunui, won the ‘Training for the Future’ category and will use the funds for educational programs for disadvantaged youth.

The Zero Beautiful Business Fund has received more than 5,500 applications from Zero customers in several countries, including New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Singapore and the United States. Winners were selected by a regional panel of judges comprised of local business leaders, Zero partners and Zero employees.

Zero New Zealand Country Manager Bridget Snelling is proud to support these small businesses and not-for-profits, emphasizing the positive impacts they have on their customers and communities. The Xero Beautiful Business Fund is a testament to Xero’s commitment to helping small businesses thrive by providing them with the resources they need to succeed.
